We support those who have experienced homelessness by delivering workshops that build mental health resilience through a holistic approach to wellbeing. Supporting members to overcome complex situations, whilst greatly improving quality of life.

We first met Ryan when he was a community member at The Social Bite Village, he was homeless for 2 years, and like most people affected by homelessness he was struggling with his mental health.

“The weekly classes at the village gave me a chance to socialise, have fun, learning something I’ve always wanted to try and it was just great to listen to tunes again. Something that had been missing from my life for quite some time. Learning to dj gave me focus, that had a knock on effect on my mental health. It really helped me overcome the situation I was in. Getting to dj for some amazing events, for these huge companies, traveling across the country was a life changing experience, I started to believe in myself again. I was the support act for Shapeshifters at a sold out show in front of 1000 people, it was a lifelong dream come true. I loved being back in a venue, listening to music on a huge sound system but this time I was in a safe environment and the one playing the music, it was a real thrill”

Ryan had gone from sleeping rough on the coast near Edinburgh, learning to dj whilst in temporary accommodation, to then perform at major events whilst still being homeless. A true inspiration to us all. Now through continued support from Turn The Tables, Ryan has a place of his own, and is a valued member of our advisory board, helping to shape the future of the organisation whilst supporting others who are experiencing homelessness.
